Menopause Yoga with Sarah
I am a qualified yoga teacher trained by the British Wheel of Yoga, and teach weekly general classes in Welburn and Sheriff Hutton. I am also a qualified Menopause Yoga teacher, trained by Petra Coveney, with Yoga Campus.
I chose to train as a menopause yoga teacher when I discovered how useful this approach can be in addressing symptoms. So many of us have so little accurate information. I found it really helpful to understand why I was experiencing my symptoms and also what I could do about them. It stopped me feeling at the mercy of a change that I could do nothing about. These workshops are designed not only to teach useful practices that are effective and easy to do, but also to share knowledge about the menopause transition and how we can help ourselves navigate it with less strife.
Workshop structure and content
I will arrive 30 minutes before class starts. Please arrive in good time to get settled and ensure your mobile is on silent.
Once I have welcomed everyone and we’re settled, we will begin with a group discussion about menopause and our individual experiences of it. Many women find this beneficial. The opportunity to talk together not only increases our understanding of what’s happening to us, but also lessens the sense of isolation that many women feel at this time. There will be space for questions, and I will suggest additional sources of reliable information.
I will then teach a specially adapted yoga practice with breathing techniques and mindful meditation exercises. These will help you manage the main symptoms of menopause such as hot flushes, anxiety, irritability, insomnia, fatigue, brain fog / lack of focus and low mood. I teach all postures in stages, and they can be modified so everyone can take part. Yoga is non-competitive. You work at your own pace in a way that is right for you.
We end with a period of relaxation to settle your body and calm your mind.
Please contact me if you would like further information. I look forward to hearing from you.
